The
Illinois Health Education Consortium
(IHEC) is a not-for-profit organization
that operates the AHEC (Area Health
Education Center) centers in Illinois.
The
Illinois AHEC Centers fulfill our
IHEC mission by:
- Encouraging young
people, especially those from minority
and rural populations to pursue
health careers
- Facilitating community-base
education for healthcare students,
medical residents, and providers
- Implementing community
health and prevention programs
- Forming partnerships
between providers, education
- Institutions, healthcare
organizations, and communities throughout
Illinois
Our
Emblem symbolizes the complexity of
our health care environment, including
the academic system for training future
providers. It also represents the
IHEC/AHEC tradition of linking these
varied components into cooperative
ventures that focus on the needs of
the community.
