"I'm Protected...Are You?  Get Vaccinated Today!"

The Immunization School Outreach Program (ISOP) is dedicated to preventing Vaccine Preventable Diseases among children and adolescents in the city of Chicago.  We accomplish this by promoting timely immunizations for students attending Chicago Public Schools (CPS).

The Illinois Health Education Consortium began working in CPS in 1997 to help school nurses address state mandates for Hepatitis B vaccination.  Since that time, the program has expanded to assist schools with providing all required vaccinations to their students.  To reflect that expansion, the program name was changed in January 2007 from the Hepatitis Education and Prevention Program (HEPP) to the Immunization School Outreach Program.

Program Goals

• To improve immunization rates for school-age children in the city of Chicago
• To raise public awareness of the recommended childhood and adolescent vaccinations
• To identify and reduce barriers to timely immunizations

Our Services

ISOP has two major initiatives:

1. Scheduling and preparing for school-based Immunization Drives
2. Educating students, parents, and staff about Vaccine Preventable Diseases

ISOP Staff Will:

• Schedule a date for students at your school to receive free vaccinations using the Chicago Department of Public Health CareVan.
• Create and distribute consent packets to all students needing vaccinations.
• Oversee logistics on the day of the Immunization Drive.
• Educate students, parents, and staff about the importance of timely immunizations.

ISOP services are provided at no cost to interested schools.
